BIOAVAILABILITY

Easily Absorbed and Highly Bioavailable

Bioavailability refers to the ability of a substance to be absorbed and utilized within the body. While standard, native collagen may have some effect on health and wellness, these large molecules are not easily absorbed once ingested. Through our proprietary hydrolysis process, Wellnex collagen peptides are clinically proven to be highly bioavailable.

Over a decade ago, Wellnex teamed with Yokohama Research Center and Kyoto University to test the absorption of bioactive peptides following ingestion of our collagen peptide ingredients. These bioavailability trials revealed that two types of Wellnex-derived dipeptides, proline-hydroxyproline “PO,” and hydroxyproline-glycine “OG,” were available at high concentrations in the human bloodstream following oral supplementation of Wellnex. These unique dipeptides can be considered relatively resistant to enzymatic degradation within the bloodstream, remaining in circulation for hours, when other hydroxyproline-containing compounds degraded in a matter of minutes.

In a follow-up study, radio-labeled PO was detected within skin cells, cartilage, and bone tissue after ingestion1. Moreover, PO was identified in the urine after collagen peptide intake2. These findings also support the hypothesis that PO and OG are stable and relatively resistant to peptidases in the blood and demonstrate that collagen peptide-derived dipeptides are able to reach specific body tissues.

BEAUTY

Significantly Reducing the Visible Signs of Skin Aging

Age-associated changes in skin tone and texture are easily recognizable, and include dryness, roughness, hyperpigmentation, and wrinkles. Collagen provides integrity and firmness to the skin, and is responsible for its strength and elasticity. The degradation of collagen in the skin leads to the reduced skin firmness, enhanced photo-damage, fine lines, and wrinkles.

As we age, our body’s natural ability to produce collagen decreases. Healthy radiance begins to vanish, and our skin starts to develop ridges, fine lines, uneven tone, and age spots, while losing elasticity and moisture.

Now with 5 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled human clinical trials for beauty, Wellnex Replenwell™ is Nitta Gelatin’s premier line of award-winning collagen ingredients for the reduction of visible signs of skin aging. Performance-optimized and tested for safety and efficacy, you can be confident that your final products will deliver beauty-from-within benefits that stand out from the rest, including*:

  • Increase in skin moisture
  • Increase in skin elasticity
  • Reduction in UV-induced hyperpigmentation
  • Improvements in skin tone and texture
  • Reduction in fine lines and wrinkles

HEALTHY AGING

Living Longer, Staying Stronger

As the average age of the global population soars, there is an increased focus on health maintenance and quality of life during the senior years. According to the 2021 US Census, over 54 million Americans are aged 65 and over. Older populations face unique wellness challenges. At the same time, dietary supplements can be powerful tools for aging consumers looking to take a proactive approach to wellbeing.

According to University Hospitals, some of the top health concerns for seniors include healthy mobility, cognitive function, metabolic support and cardiovascular health. Wellnex Replenwell™ collagen peptide ingredients are perfectly suited to address the unique needs of the senior consumer, with pre-clinical and clinical studies addressing each of these issues, with daily supplementation dosages ranging from 2.5-10 grams per day.

Support for Pressure Injuries

CLINICAL TRIALS

Recent RDBPC clinical trial demonstrated Wellnex Replenwell™ collagen peptides’ positive effect on stage II and III pressure ulcers after 16 weeks with regular therapy.

Seventy-five percent of the subjects consuming Wellnex Replenwell™ reported significant improvement in their sores, while 81% of the placebo group reported only some or no improvement.

Families, caregivers, and medical personnel encounter unique challenges when providing support to the elderly. As the senior population grows, the number of people bedridden from illness or age has also grown. Bedridden individuals are at risk for developing complications from their immobility, including pressure injuries. Pressure inquiries (also known as “pressure ulcers” or “bed sores”) are a major concern for the well-being of at-risk individuals. If left untreated, pressure ulcers can lead to serious infections, pain, or even death. In addition to regular physical therapy and good hygiene practices, nutritional supplements are often used for the intervention or prevention of pressure ulcers. Protein supplements, such as those containing collagen peptides, can help maintain dietary protein levels. In addition, the key dipeptides found in Wellnex Replenwell™ collagen peptides have been shown to support healthy skin function in both preclinical, and “gold standard” randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled (RDBPC) human clinical trials.
